There is a school uniform and a sports uniform. Students are requested to have both uniforms but are not allowed to wear a combination of the two. Students are to wear school uniform except on days when they have Health & Physical Education when sports uniform is required. School Uniform
Sports Uniform
The school spray jacket is the only approved garment to be worn over school uniform and may be worn with sports uniform, formal uniform, or at sports matches. On a rainy day students are permitted to wear a raincoat of their choice. Boys are encouraged to wear a hat whilst outside and are permitted to wear suitable headwear.
Other important information: Grey socks with grey trousers, white socks with sports uniform. Good quality school backpacks or bags are available at the uniform shop. Jewellery – students may wear a single stud earring, however nose and eyebrow piercing is not allowed for occupational health and safety reasons. Pendants, rings and bracelets are also not to be worn to school. Hats – All students are required to have a hat. In 2002, this is to be a plain, dark blue peaked cap or brimmed hat or a New Town High School cap. Outlandish hair colours and styles are not acceptable. The school uniform policy is determined by The Parents’ & Friends’ Association and the school.
